Breaking Ground: Faculty Exhibition

Breaking Ground is the 2022 Faculty Art Exhibition, featuring the work of Brad Bachmeier, Wil Shynkaruk, Chris Walla, Sherry Lee Short, Laura Youngbird, Megan Johnson, Zhimin Guan, and Carlos Pacheco. The exhibition features a range of media, including painting, drawing, photography, video, ceramics and sculpture.

Six McKnight Artists

The Six McKnight Artists exhibition features the works of the 2019 McKnight Artist Residency for Ceramic Artists recipient Hyang Jin Cho, three 2020 McKnight Artist Residency for Ceramic Artists recipients Ashwini Bhat, Roberta Massuch, and Tom Hubbard, and two 2021 McKnight Fellowship for Ceramic Artists recipients Mike Helke and Juliane Shibata. This exhibition is supported by the McKnight Foundation and showcases the success of each artist’s fellowship or residency. The work is on loan and available for purchase from Northern Clay Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Minnesota Experience: Visiting Artist Qing Xu

Minnesota Experience is a solo show featuring the work of Qing Xu, a visiting artist from Jiang Nan University in China. The still lives, landscapes and portraits survey her study, research and observations during her one-year residence at MSUM School of Art. The new American life experience, cultural differences, the homesickness and total engagement with the artistic community have inspired her to creative these paintings with enthusiasm and freedom. Professor Xu wishes to communicate and exchange artistic ideas with students, artists and the public in the Fargo-Moorhead community.

Art-A-Fair 9 High School Exhibition

MSUM’s School of Art’s Art-A-Fair is an annual high school art exhibition, workshop day and awards ceremony. More than 300 students and teachers from high schools in three states attend hands-on workshops by Visual art, Media Art and Music faculty, advanced students, regional arts organizations, and local artists.

The School of Art’s annual exhibition showcasing artwork by MSUM students. This year, the exhibition will be juried by Jonathan Rutter, Executive Director and Curator at the Rourke Art Museum in Moorhead. Cash prizes will be awarded. Registration details coming soon.
