As the Dean of Students, I coordinate support services for students who are experiencing a variety of challenges and oversee the areas of accessibility resources, student conduct, counseling services, and the CARE Team. I serve as the University's Title IX Coordinator, as well. I grew up in southwestern Minnesota, graduating from Russell-Tyler High School. I earned a B.A. in English and Communications/Business from Augustana University, an M.S. Counseling and Student Affairs from MSUM, and a Ph.D. in Education from NDSU. I have worked in a variety of areas over the past 25+ years, including residence life, student activities, service-learning, diversity initiatives, multicultural programs, and Title IX. I love being part of the Dragon Family!

As the CHRO, Kayla is responsible for the leadership, vision, and strategic direction for the human resources operation of the University. Kayla ensures that the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and affirmative action and equal employment opportunity will be applied to all university human resources practices, including developing policies and practices that welcome all potential students and employees. Kayla leads efforts to position the University as a collaborative and welcoming place to work that supports, engages, values and develops employees.

Jason Sobolik is in his eighteenth year at MSUM, and ninth year as the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance & Student Services. In 2009 Sobolik took on the role as Compliance Coordinator while also fulfilling his role as assistant women’s basketball coach. He was appointed to his current role in 2012. Sobolik served as assistant women’s basketball coach from 2003-2012. Sobolik joined the MSUM family in 2003 and was promoted to number one assistant on the women’s basketball staff in August of 2005. During his time as an assistant he helped the Dragons build a 162-99 record, advanced to NCAA Division II Central Regional tournament three times and captured a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference crown in 2005. The Dragons reached the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference postseason in each of his nine seasons. Sobolik was named head softball coach at MSUM in 2004 and directed the Dragons to a 36-17 finish. He was honored as the NSIC Softball Coach of the Year. Sobolik coached a USA Select Softball team that captured the Bronze medal at the 2005 Arafura Games in Darwin, Australia. The Mandan, N.D., native graduated from the University of North Dakota with a degree in Social Studies Education. He earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from MSUM. Sobolik is a member of the National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC) and serves on the Division II NAAC Committee, the NAAC Reasonable Standards Committee and the NCAA Division II Committee on Infractions.
