BSN Admission & Application Requirements
Dates & Deadlines for BSN Program Application

The details for applying and admission to MSUM are identified on the How to Apply page. Once you are admitted declare the BS in Nursing as your major. - Complete Prerequisite Courses
There are eight prerequisite courses that must be completed prior to nursing program term start.- These four prerequisites are used to evaluate for admission and must be completed prior to the application deadline. All courses must be completed with a C- or higher and a cumulative 2.75 GPA across the four prerequisites.
- ENGL 101 English Composition or equivalent
- PSY 113 General Psychology or equivalent
- CHEM 110 Fundamentals of Chemistry or equivalent
- BIOL 125/125L Human Anatomy & Physiology I (with lab) or equivalent
- The following prerequisites are not used to evaluate for admission, but must be completed before starting nursing courses. These courses must be completed with a C- or better in each course and a cumulative 2.75 GPA across the eight prerequisites. If any prerequisite is not completed, or does not meet the criteria, the offer of admission will be rescinded.
- BIOL 126/126L Human Anatomy & Physiology II (with lab) or equivalent
- BIOL 236/236L Introduction to Microbiology or equivalent
- PSY 202 Developmental Psychology or equivalent
- COMM 285 Intercultural Communication or equivalent
- These four prerequisites are used to evaluate for admission and must be completed prior to the application deadline. All courses must be completed with a C- or higher and a cumulative 2.75 GPA across the four prerequisites.
- Applications for Summer & Fall 2024 will open December 1, 2023.
- The TEAS Exam must be completed (effective February 2018 and beyond).
- The TEAS Exam is offered at MSUM. Please see the Testing Services webpage for more information.
- If you have taken the TEAS Exam at a different institution you will need to submit your official score documentation from Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI) Nursing Education by logging into your ATI account. There may be a fee do to this.
Admission is limited and competitive, only 32 students will be accepted per semester start. It is advised that all applicants also consider a parallel plan.
If you are a Licensed Practical Nurse, you must maintain an unencumbered practical nursing license from any state in the U.S. throughout the program.
Admission decisions will be announced by April 1.
Upon admission to the BSN program, new students will receive information about required documentation of immunizations and other screenings, CPR, background checks, etc., prior to program start.
