Welcome to the #DragonFamily: Katie Demuth

Meet Katie Demuth, MSUM's assistant director of First Year Recruitment. Katie works with incoming students to help them choose and apply to MSUM.

Q: What drew you to MSUM?
A: I think a big part that pulled me towards MSUM was the people here. I've always admired the true tenacity of MSUM, the grit that makes a Dragon. I wanted to recruit students and help them see themselves here.

Q: What unique experience or skill from your previous job do you bring to MSUM?
A: I brought a lot of visual design pieces with experience in making presentations and social media graphics. I'm also very detail oriented.

Q: What is one thing that surprised you about MSUM, or our campus?
A: Despite living in Moorhead, I didn't really know the campus itself, so I've been getting a feel for campus. You never know until you actually get here what you're going to find.

Q: What is your go to productivity trick?
A: For me to be productive, I have to create a list of all the things I have to do, often color coding them, and physically check them off. I also listen to music on Spotify; it's been a lot of Taylor Swift lately.

Q: What is your favorite social media platform?
A: I like Instagram.

Q: If you could only have three apps on your phone, what would they be and why?
A: Definitely Instagram. Because I love seeing pictures of people and just connecting with people that way. Second, TikTok, and then I would keep TimeHop so I can go back and see what went on.

Q: What's something big or small that you're good at?
A: I like to think of myself as a pretty crafty individual, so I really like doing embroidery.

Q: If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?
A: Alex Morgan, on and off the field. I just think she's like a great mom and a wonderful person to look up to.

Q: What show are you currently watching or wanting to watch?
A: I just finished Jury Duty. I have also gone back to reading books, which has been great.

Q: What are we most likely to find you doing on the weekend?
A: Reading a book, going for walks or bike rides, and being with my family.
