Adding & Dropping Winter Session Courses

Students may add a Winter Session classes through December 19. Because the winter term is attached to the spring term, students may run into an excess credit error message when registering. Students with more than 60 earned credits will receive this error message if they attempt to register for more than 20 credits. Students with less than 60 credits will receive the message if they attempt to register for more than 18 credits. If winter term registration is causing the error, students just need to email the Registrar's Office at registrar@mnstate.edu so an override can be given.

The last day to drop a winter course without financial obligation and no record is December 19. The last day to withdraw (resulting in a W on your transcript) will be posted in each individual course. Students must contact the Registrar’s office to drop a class after December 19. You will not be able to complete course modifications through eServices after Winter Session has begun. Please email registrar@mnstate.edu.

Graduation After Winter Session

If Winter Session will be your last term before graduation, please contact Financial Aid and discuss potential aid implications of having your degree posted earlier than May 2023. Also, be sure you complete a graduation application. Select Spring as your intended term of graduation. Degrees using winter term courses will not be posted until spring.
