The StarID is a username that is used across the Minnesota State system to access information technology systems and services. As systems are configured to use StarID, the number of usernames and passwords students and employees will need to remember and use will be reduced. Ideally, a single username can be used to log into any system and that will be StarID.
- Activate Your StarID
To activate your StarID, go to the StarID Self Service page, select Activate myStarID.
- Reset StarID Password
To change your StarID password, go to the StarID Self Service page, select Reset Password.
- Forgot Your StarID
If you forgot your StarID, go to the StarID Self Service page, select Forgot StarID.
- Manage Your StarID Profile
To set your email preferences or change your password, go to the StarID Self Service page, select Manage Profile.

Your StarID allows you access and use to systems and services like email, wireless internet access, vpn, sws, computer lab authentication, D2L Brightspace, Office365 and much more.
