College of Science, Health & the Environment Scholarships
MSUM offers a variety of science, health and environmental scholarships for current and incoming students. The College of Science, Health and the Environment scholarships are listed below. You can apply for program and major scholarships through the online scholarship application October 1-February 1.
MSUM offers Pre-Health scholarship to eligible students who have aspirations to proceed into medical school.
The recipient will be properly enrolled as a fulltime student at MSU Moorhead during the actual disbursement of the award and have a declared major in the College of Science, Health, and the Environment with a GPA of at least 3.5 upon receiving this scholarship.
The student will have a demonstrated need for this award. Need is determined by completing the FAFSA by the scholarship deadline date. If you have not completed a FAFSA already, you can do so at www.fafsa.gov.

These scholarships must be applied directly to and are awarded by the College of Science, Health and the Environment. Students with declared majors in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics are eligible to apply.

MSUM offers a variety of scholarships through the College of Science, Health and the Environment who major in Anthropology and Earth Science; Biosciences; chemistry and Biochemistry; Health and Physical Education; Mathematics; Physics and Astronomy; Pre-Health; Psychology; Nursing and Healthcare Leadership. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 required.
Describe at least one service opportunity you have been involved with at the university or in the community. How did that experience impact your understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion?
Save your document as "CSHE" so that the awarding committee can easily identify this document.
- Awarded to a Junior or Senior, majoring in one of the natural sciences or mathematics
- 3.5 GPA or higher
- Successful candidates will have a record of leadership and/or service within the natural sciences and/or mathematics
Attach a separate document describing leadership roles in natural science or math activities in which you have participated. Rank these activities with the one you consider the most important or significant as "1."

Applicant must be a junior or senior that has stated intent to apply for medical school to become a medical doctor.

The Goldwater Scholarship is a highly competitive national scholarship program for students who intend to pursue a research-based career in science, mathematics, and/or engineering. The scholarship is intended for students with one or two years of undergraduate study left, and provides up to $7,500 per year toward documented educational expenses. Each university is allowed to nominate only four (4) applicants to the Goldwater Scholarship program each year, so we have developed this application process to choose MSUM’s nominees.

- Sophomores or juniors who intend to pursue careers in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering. Pre-medical students are eligible only if they intend to pursue a research career rather than a career as a medical doctor in a private setting. See Goldwater Eligibility Criteria
- Cumulative GPA of 3.6.
- U.S. Citizen, permanent resident or U.S. National.
