Testing Services

Due to ongoing concerns related to COVID-19, all onsite testing has been suspended until further notice.

We are temporarily testing for the ACCUPLACER remotely using Zoom. In order to take the test, you will need a computer (desktop or laptop) with a webcam and headset (microphone/audio). Unfortunately, other devices such as cell phones, Chromebooks, iPads, Surface, and other tablets, will not work. Please follow these steps BEFORE registering for your testing appointment, to ensure your technology will work:

  1. Go to the Zoom website, download and install Zoom.
  2. Test that Zoom was set up correctly and use the option to join with video.
  3. Check that your computer can run ACCUPLACER.

Test Registration Form

The MSUM library has a lab with a few computers that will meet the requirements for testing, if you are able to get to campus and have a valid Dragon ID.

If you are unable to test remotely due to technology constraints, please contact Testing Services for accurate course placement.

Undergraduate Assessment for Course Placement

To improve the accuracy of the course placement processes, MSUM is using multiple assessments to place students, rather than a single high-stakes test. Measurements include ACT, SAT, MCA, High school GPA and Accuplacer. This process will allow for accurate placement of students into courses that meet their level of academic abilities.

Students, what does this mean for you?

Course placements are not just based on your ACT/SAT score(s). These placements can range from developmental coursework to prepare you for classes required for your major, to placement directly into higher level courses. If you have more questions, please contact us.

Proctoring Services

Testing Services will provide proctoring services for MSU Moorhead students taking online courses at other Minnesota State institutions. If you are taking an online course at MSUM, your instructor will proctor your exam.

Please call Testing Services to schedule a time for your test. Please give us at least one week’s notice to schedule your exam.
