Criminal Justice Scholarships
MSUM offers a variety of Criminal Justice scholarships for current and incoming students. Scholarships are listed below. Students can apply for university scholarships through the online scholarship application October 1-February 1.
Joshua Hanson completed his bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and law enforcement skills training at Alexandria Technical College in 2005. He planned to be a law enforcement officer when his tour in Iraq was completed and hoped to work as a deputy for the Otter Tail Sheriff's Department. Joshua Hanson died on August 30, 2006 while serving with the Minnesota National Guard in Iraq. He was completing his second tour of duty and was assigned to Company A, 2nd Combined Arms Battalion, 136th Infantry stationed in southern Iraq.
This scholarship is designated for Sociology, Criminal Justice, and Gerontology majors who demonstrate excellence in service to his/her community. Applicants must have a minimum 2.8 GPA.
Write a 250-500 word essay describing your service work (paid or unpaid), such as community or military service, volunteer or faith-based work, or any other work you've done to create positive change in your community.
Donate to contribute to the Joshua Hanson Service scholarship fund.
