- Registration
- To register, please fill out the registration form. Your instructor will then contact you to schedule your weekly lesson time.
- Building Policies
- Lessons are held at the Roland Dille Center for the Arts – please meet teacher in foyer area in front of the Box Office at lesson time to be escorted to lesson location.
- Students under the age of 18 should not be left unsupervised within the Center of the Arts building or outside grounds for any reason at any time. The CSA, CSA teachers, School of Performing Arts, or MSUM will not assume responsibility for your child should an accident occur while they are unattended.
- Safety is very important to us at MSUM.
- All instructors complete a background check as part of the hiring process.
- Masks are required to be worn while on campus property (students may remove masks while they are playing their wind instruments in lessons).
- A waiver form must be signed by all participants or guardian of participants.
- Parking
- Free parking is available in the lots after 4:30 pm.
- Street parking is available before 4:30 pm.
- Make-up Lesson Policies
- Students are expected to attend lessons on a regular basis. Teachers are not required to make-up missed lesson(s) when no notice is given. Excused absences, (absences that occur where advanced notice is given) can be made-up during a mutually agreeable time, either in-person or virtually.
- To report a student absence, please contact your teacher via phone. Refunds are not issued for lessons that the student cancels or misses.
- Lessons cancelled by the teacher will be rescheduled at the earliest convenience of both the student and the teacher.
- In the case of inclement weather where the campus of MSUM is closed (check www.mnstate.edu to check on campus status), lessons will either be rescheduled or held virtually. Please communicate with your instructor for a mutual decision on how lessons will be handled in the case of inclement weather.
- Late Arrival
- Students are expected to be on time; time will not be added to a lesson to make-up for late arrivals. Instructors will wait 15 minutes before assuming that the student will be missing the lesson. Very rarely, and only in extenuating circumstances will an instructor be tardy. If an instructor is late, they will arrange for making up the lost time at a mutually convenient time.
- Student Expectations
- Attend all lessons for the semester they are registered for.
- Bring instrument, music, and any other lesson materials the instructor requires to each lesson.
- Be committed to practicing on a regular basis as advised by their instructor.
- Follow building policies.
- Student Discipline
- CSA teachers reserve the right to discontinue or terminate lessons for student disciplinary reasons. All CSA students are expected to behave with the highest respect to the School of Music facilities, CSA teachers, and other CSA students. CSA teachers reserve the right to immediately end any lesson due to disciplinary problems of any student. Disciplinary infractions of any kind will be referred first to the parents, and, if continuing, to CSA supervisors for disciplinary action. Disciplinary action may involve termination from the CSA program with tuition forfeited.
