The Comstock Memorial Union (CMU) has multiple meeting rooms, hybrid-ready spaces (Rooms 203, 205, 218, and 225), a multipurpose room (Room 105), and a six-section Ballroom. Our rooms have multiple types of setups such as banquet rounds, row seating, classroom seating, open square, and conference tables.
The Comstock Memorial Union (CMU) can create Zoom Meeting Rooms or Webinars for events. This ensures seamless integration with the CMU’s technology and provides us additional capabilities for tech support before and during your event. If you need to create your own virtual meeting room, please follow our Zoom settings guidelines.
For most events, we utilize Zoom or PowerPoint for live captioning options depending on the event’s needs. We generally advise that presentations be designed with a captioning area clearance space where text and non-decorative graphics are not placed. The average clearance space is considered approximately 1.5 inches at the bottom of each slide without obstructions. If you need more space for content, ensure a minimum of 1 inch clearance is available for captions. This creates a more equitable and enjoyable viewing experience for all.
