Welcome to the Dragon Community: Jin Shanahan

Jin Shanahan is the new General Maintenance Worker for Alex Nemzek Hall. Jin makes sure that the building is clean and working properly for students, staff, and visitors. 

Q: What drew you to MSUM?
A: Being so close to campus. 

Q: What unique experiences or skills from your past job do you bring to MSUM?
A: My first job I ever had was at a resort cleaning cabins, so that is useful. 

Q: Do you have any previous/other connection(s) to MSUM?
A: I was a student here from 2014-2020. 

Q: What does your new role involve? (maybe already answered under Basics)
A: I come to work and grab my cart and start making my rounds around my designated areas, making sure the garbage is empty and that everything looks nice. 

Q: How do you prefer to start your workday?
A: I like to walk to work. 

Q: What’s your go-to productivity trick? Or what energizes you at work?
A: Taking those 15-minute breaks and just re-energizing myself. I start work at 5 a.m. sometimes, so making sure I keep myself energized is super important. 

Q: If you could choose a superpower, what would it be?
A: Invisibility.  

Q: What’s your favorite place to eat in Fargo-Moorhead?
A: India Palace 

Q: What’s something—big or small—that you’re really good at?
A: Drawing, I've been really into digital art recently.
