Computer Information Systems

  • The Computer Information Systems degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead is a unique hybrid between management information systems and software engineering, giving you the best of both worlds. You’ll study the technical and detailed side of computers in addition to acquiring knowledge of business information systems. By taking classes in business, finance and accounting, as well as computer programming and administration, you’ll be well on your way to landing the job of your dreams.

  • Benefits of a Computer Information Systems Major
    Paseka School of Business, which is AACSB accredited, allows you to gain understanding of business, finance and accounting, giving you the insight necessary to succeed in the computer information systems field.
    Three state-of-the-art computer facilities provide you with advanced technology tools to facilitate a real-world learning environment. A Windows-based lab with 32 computers, a Linux lab with 21 workstations, and an advanced technologies research facility lab are available to Computer Information Systems students.
    Excellent internship opportunities exist in the Fargo-Moorhead area at large organizations like Microsoft and startup companies like Myriad Mobile or Clifton Labs, to name a few. They’ll help you gain real-world experience before graduating and joining the workforce.
    Two closely related majors in the department mean you can double or even triple major by taking a small number of additional credits. Computer Science and Computer Information Technology majors are also offered at MSUM.
