The BFA degree in Art Education from Minnesota State University Moorhead prepares you for both creating and teaching art at a professional level. The experiences and opportunities within our program provide you with flexible employment options in numerous settings including public and private schools, community centers, parks and recreation departments, clinical settings, galleries, museums and nonprofits to name a few. Besides becoming well trained in a variety of studio areas, you will also complete coursework in art history, art education methods, psychology and multicultural studies. You’ll have the option of completing a 17-week student teaching experience that includes teaching art in both elementary and secondary classrooms. If you choose to pursue teaching licensure, you can leave with both Minnesota and North Dakota licenses.
