Master of Criminal Justice (MA)
Minnesota State University Moorhead’s Master of Arts in Criminal Justice provides training for a diverse set of careers: police science and public safety, security and loss prevention, restorative justice, juvenile and adult probation and parole, victim-witness services and more. While learning about advanced criminology, you’ll earn credits by completing research, analysis, planning or assessment projects of professional and personal interest. By the time you complete this degree you will be able to design and implement your own projects step-by-step.
This program is offered through Online+, which means you can complete all courses online or you can attend classes in person—you choose.
If you are an MSUM undergraduate student, you are eligible for graduate classes when you’re a senior – allowing you a head start toward completing your master’s degree in criminal justice.
Professors are research and teaching experts in police science and public safety, juvenile justice, prisons and corrections, drug control policy and more. Small class sizes give you personal attention and committed support.
MSUM does not require a specific undergraduate degree or course prerequisites for admission. That means you don’t have to delay your degree to take additional undergraduate courses.
Careers & Outcomes
Criminal justice professionals who complete the master’s degree earn an average of $12,000 more each year and significantly improve their job mobility and chances for promotion. Doing well in master’s classes can also qualify you for future learning opportunities, like selective PhD programs.
