Admitted Graduate Students

Welcome to Minnesota State Moorhead. Your journey begins here!

  1. Meet with your assigned advisor. Your advisor's name is on your acceptance email. If you need assistance, contact the Office of Graduate & Extended Learning and we will help you connect with them. They can assist with your course selection.

  2. Use your StarID and password provided on your admission letter to complete the online orientation located on your D2L Brightspace landing page as soon as possible to learn about essential services and resources. Your courses will load 24 hours after registration and be available by the first day of classes.

  3. Log into eServices to register for classes, check your grades, add and drop classes, pay your tuition, etc.

  4. Activate your MSUM email. It's the official method of communication for all university-related business. You'll receive financial aid award notifications, tuition and fee due dates, class cancellations and other important information.

  5. Required SVPT Training. All students will be enrolled in the Sexual Violence Prevention Training (SVPT) course per State of Minnesota statute § 135A.15. This free course takes an hour to complete and must be completed within the first 10 days of the semester.

  6. If you are seeking a degree, log into the Graduate Dashboard to enter your excepted graduation term discussed with your advisor.

  7. Immunization requirements are available on the Registrar's Office webpage.

  8. Review the graduate student financial aid process to determine if you're eligible for aid and get detailed instructions for applying for financial aid. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

  9. Make a financial commitment to pay your tuition and fees.The deadline for making a deposit/down payment is 15 business days before the semester begins. Making this commitment ensures you will not be dropped from classes. Review the Payment Dates webpage to view specific financial commitment deadlines and arrangement options. 

  10. Purchase textbooks and course materials in person or online at the Moorhead bookstore,

  11. If you plan to have a vehicle on-campus you will need to Register for a parking permit using your StarID and Password.

  12. Your Dragon ID Card provides access to many campus resources and events, such as the library, after-hours access to campus buildings, printing services, free or discounted admission to athletic events and activities and much more. Visit the Dragon Card Office to pick up your card.
