Dr. Miriam Brack Webber
Dr. Miriam Brack Webber is currently Professor of Music and Director of the Honors Program at Bemidji State University. She holds a BM from Ball State University, and MM from McGill University and the University of Kansas, and a Ph.D. from the University of Kansas. Principal bassoonist of the Bemidji and Heartland Symphony Orchestras, Webber is an active bassoonist and contrabassoonist, performing with orchestras across the country, including the Duluth-Superior, St. Joseph, Fort Hays, Springfield, and Muncie Symphony Orchestras. She was named a 2022–2023 Region 2 Arts Council Artist Fellow. Her research interests include narrative processes within Shostakovich’s works and her monograph Bakhtin and the Music of Dmitri Shostakovich: Analysis as Dialogue was recently published in Routledge Press.
Dr. Dorothy Glick Maglione
Dr. Dorothy Glick Maglione is an Assistant Professor of Musicology at William Kansas State University. Her research examines the intersection of immigration and music evident in the early-twentieth-century concerts that occurred at the Ellis Island Immigration Station. She is the author of “Bernstein’s ‘Omnibus’ Series” in Leonard Bernstein: In Context, edited by Elizabeth A. Wells (Cambridge University Press, 2024) and “Singing at Ellis Island” in the Oxford Handbook of Community Singing, edited by Esther Morgan-Ellis and Kay Norton (Oxford University Press, 2024). As a flutist, Maglione performs regularly in the Kansas City area and founded The Violetta Duo in 2013 with clarinetist Madelyn Moore. They performed at the 2023 and 2019 International Clarinet Association ClarinetFest, were featured artists at the 2018 National Association of Composers/USA, and give regular recitals around the country.
Dr. Madelyn Moore
Dr. Madelyn Moore is Associate Professor of Clarinet at New Mexico State University. She is a Buffet Crampon performing artist and is a member of the Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra, has performed with the El Paso, Santa Fe and Fort Worth Symphony Orchestras, and regularly gives solo and chamber recitals. As a founding member of The Violetta Duo, Dr. Moore has commissioned several works for flute and clarinet alone and has performed across the United States, as well as at National and International conferences. She also performs with and commissions pieces for Trio Enchantment, an ensemble of clarinet, horn and cello. She has taught, lectured and performed throughout the U.S., and in Belgium, Spain and China. Dr. Moore’s research on the forgotten compositions of clarinetist Heinrich Baermann has been published in The Clarinet. Carl Fischer Music publishes three of Baermann’s works edited by Dr. Moore in a volume, titled “Heinrich Baermann: Lesser-Known Works for the Clarinet.”
Dr. Stephen Carlson
A member of the Bemidji State University School of Music since 2006, Dr. Stephen Carlson is a versatile soloist and chamber musician who has performed throughout much of the U.S. and Canada. He made his New York debut as a solo recitalist in the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in 2005 with works by Beethoven, Debussy, Schumann, Scriabin, and Stravinsky. Currently Professor and Chair of the School of Music at BSU, Dr. Carlson is also a devoted teacher who enjoys giving master classes and workshops. In April of 2026, Carlson released a solo album, French and German Gems, consisting of various works by Rameau, Ravel, Beethoven and Brahms. He released another solo album in 2021 that includes selected works by Beethoven, Haydn, Bartók, Debussy, and Liszt. He and his colleague, Dr. Cory Renbarger, also released their recording of Schubert’s Winterreise in 2022. His 2026-2027 concert season features solo or collaborative performances in Alaska, Arizona, Kentucky, North Carolina, North Dakota, as well as Minnesota.
