Stacey Benson ('90) has received one of MSUM's 2023 Distinguished Alumni awards.

Katie Merrick is using her experience and skills gained from her communication studies degree to aid her in her work for the Fargo Force.

Amy Iler earned her BS in communication studies at MSUM in 2006 and continues to give a voice to those in the F/M area as a radio host for KFGO. 

During his 42-year career with The Associated Press, Jeff Baenen covered everything from famous musicians to scandals and politics. He credits much of his success to the education he received at Minnesota State University Moorhead, and is now helping the next generation of journalists by starting a scholarship of his own.

Paige Kosienski is using her communication skills with F/M radio as a co-host for “The Wake-Up Call”  on Froggy 99.9 with Paige and Trace.

Xavier Reed secured a corporate job before he graduated from MSUM. A year later, he quit and pursued his second career and first passion: education.

Michelle Olson is a notable business leader and entrepreneur with more than 30 years of experience in public relations and integrated marketing.

Visual Journalist Shari Gross is on staff at the Star Tribune, which won a Pulitzer Prize this year. Their coverage of the George Floyd murder and the reverberations that followed will make a difference in that community and beyond.

This fall, MSUM communication students have the distinct opportunity to work with Forum Communications through an apprenticeship program, offering the chance to collaborate with Forum staff and their peers.

Students in the COMM 440 class produced and directed the documentary, "MSUM: Under the Mask," which follows students, faculty and staff at MSUM during the pandemic.

Unseen is dedicated to thwarting human trafficking and impacts lives around the world by partnering with organizations that directly rescue victims from the clutches of forced services and despair.
