As stated in the introduction to Historic Resources in Minnesota: A Report of Their Extent, Location, and Need for Preservation, Submitted to the Minnesota Legislature by the Minnesota Historical Society (Minnesota Historical Society, 1979), "The 1977 State Legislature directed the Minnesota Historical Society 'to identify, inventory, and organize information about Minnesota's historical resources in a comprehensive plan.' It was anticipated that such a survey would be 'of inestimable use to the state, counties, cities, and regions in charting a course for historic preservation, recommending legislation needed in this field to the 1979 legislature, and bringing into sharp focus what programs and projects most need the State Historical Society's grant-in-aid program in the future'" (p. 1).

MSUM recognizes the International Baccalaureate program, offered at many high schools in the United States and abroad, which allows students to take examinations for credit. The examinations are offered at the standard (SL) and higher (HL) levels.

While speaking with Dr. James “Jim” Nagel ’62 (English and physical education), you begin to notice a striking resemblance to “The Most Interesting Man in the World.”

Inspired by her mother’s career, Audri Lagge ’19 also got her construction management degree at MSUM and quickly became a Senior Project Manager with a rapidly-growing construction company in Fargo, N.D., which led to her being recognized as one of Prairie Business’ Top 25 Women in Business in 2024.

Randolph M. Probstfield was born in Prussia in 1832. He emigrated to the United States in 1852, living in Wisconsin and Michigan prior to coming to Minnesota. It is known that he worked in the lumbering business out of St. Paul and traveled through much of the country and to Latin America during the mid 1850s. In 1859, Probstfield moved to the Red River Valley area, becoming so far as to be known, as the first white settler in Clay County.

The mentorship aspect of MSUM’s RN to BSN program plays a key role in student success.

Hall of Famer and Distinguished Alumna Rita Rislund dedicated her education career to Title IX, paving the way for female athletes.

The Agassiz Women’s Political Caucus was organized during the summer of 1982. Its primary purpose is to educate women in political activities so that they may share equally with men in the responsibilities of government at every level. The Caucus also works to recruit, support, and endorse able and qualified women to run for elective office and to serve in positions in government and courts.

An international transfer student who is coming to MSUM from another university (whether based within the United States or not) and is transferring in 12 university credits or more is considered a transfer student.
