The sustainability minor is an excellent addition to any major. It has an interdisciplinary focus with the shared goal of understanding, preserving and promoting a healthy planet. Minnesota State Moorhead is one of only a few universities in the country to approach sustainability across the curriculum.
The Women’s Athletic Club of Fargo-Moorhead [North Dakota-Minnesota] was organized in 1927 as a result of a separation of athletics from the Women’s Fine Arts Club. The purpose of this organization is the promotion of indoor and outdoor athletics for women. All women 18 years of age and over are eligible for membership. The organization disbanded in 1996.
Planned as a weekly community newspaper devoted to events and news in Moorhead, the Monitor began publication on February 4, 1982. Financial difficulties forced the paper to cease publication in February 1983, while the business was reorganized. The Monitor returned to print in May 1983, and continued until continued shortage of revenue forced the management to end publication in March 1984.
The Migrant Issues Task Force was established in 1989, jointly funded by local funds and a greant from the West Central Minnesota Initiative Fund. The Task Force’s goals, to be carried out over a three year period, were to identify problems related to the migrant community in the Moorhead-Clay County region off Minnesota, and to develop solutions to those problems.
Richard W. Fitzsimons was born January 19, 1922 and raised on a farm near Argyle, Minnesota. After the death of his father in 1937, Richard and his mother ran the farm. Fitzsimons was active in the 4-H Club and he helped organize the Rural Youth Program in Minnesota, serving as state president and on the National Committee. Fitzsimons married Janice Kyseth and had a son, Mark and a daughter, Lori. Fitzsimons was first elected to the Minnesota State Legislature in 1952 from the Sixty-Seventh District - Marshall County.
