Unsilent Night | Caroling for the Digital Age!
Tuesday, December 5, 2020 | 7:00 p.m.
Starting at Island Park Gazebo in Fargo
Due to MSUM's Campus Safety Level moving from YELLOW to ORANGE, this event has been canceled.
Join the MSUM School of Performing Arts as we bring back to Fargo the safe, socially-distanced music-making avant-garde outdoor performance event--Phil Kline's "Unsilent Night". This gorgeous new-music event features interactive, haunting soundscapes played on portable sound devices, carried through the streets all around the world by "audience" members...from Brussels to London, from New York to Fargo! How to participate?
1. Bring your cellphone, and IF POSSIBLE, a portable Blutooth speaker.
2. Download the "Unsilent Night" app (available for iOS and Android).
3. Join us downtown! It's that easy!
You'll "perform" one of 4 randomly chosen audio tracks that, when weaved together with the rest of the performers, "immerses the listener in suspended wonderment" (The New York Times). We'll begin at the Island Park Gazebo in Fargo and process gradually through downtown Fargo. The entire event will be 45 minutes long. Performed with permission granted from Phil Kline’s Unsilent Night. Copyright © 1992 by Phil Kline. Recording available on Cantaloupe Music at For even more info, visit
