Farwell & Sash Ceremony
The Farewell and Sash Ceremony celebrates the accomplishments, identities, and contributions of graduating international students and domestic students who identify as BIPOC and/or members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. Hosted by the Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Global Engagement, the ceremony recognizes the unique experiences and perspectives these students bring to the campus community.
Each participant receives a sash representing either their country of citizenship or a community of personal significance. Graduates wear their sash during commencement as a celebration of identity, achievement, belonging, and cultural pride.
Participants are welcome to invite friends, family members, coworkers, supervisors, professors, and other supporters to attend the ceremony. Please note that space is limited. Students must sign up in advance to RSVP and receive a sash.
