Speech Language Pathology Application Deadlines

Steps to Apply
You may begin your application before all documents are ready. CSDCAS saves your progress, and you may return any time to continue updating your application.
- Create your account in CSDCAS
- Select your program from the list and click “+” to add to your cart.
- Complete the three general application sections.
- Complete the fourth, MSUM section (See Application Requirements below).
- Make sure to request all documents before submitting your application. Once you submit, you can no longer amend or upload additional documents.
- Pay the $150 application fee.
Speech Language Pathology Admission Requirements
- A baccalaureate degree in Speech Language Hearing Sciences or Communication Disorders from an accredited institution OR a 4-year related undergraduate degree and post baccalaureate leveling courses in the SLHS or Communication Disorders major.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or at least 3.25 for the last 40 semester credits.
Speech Language Pathology Application Requirements
- CSDCAS application
- A current resume (include education, work, and volunteer/service experience).
- All official transcripts.
- Three letters of recommendation from evaluators are required. Applicants with at least two major recommendation writers/evaluators (from Speech/Language/Hearing Sciences or Communication Disorders department faculty) will be given the highest consideration.
- A letter of intent (two double-spaced pages) addressed to the SLP program admission committee. Respond to the following prompts somewhere in your letter. Specific examples of relevant experience would be helpful.
- Your passion for the field.
- Your future career goals and how our program at MSUM will help you achieve them.
- As part of the competitive admission process, some applicants will be invited to a face-to-face interview in February.
- MSUM undergraduates only must complete the Reference Permission Form and provide the form and your resume to your reference writer(s).
International Student Requirements
- An official comprehensive course-by-course transcript evaluation by Educational Credential Evaluator (ECE), World Education Services (WES) or any other NACES accredited evaluation firm, from post-secondary institutions outside the U.S.
- The ECE, WES, or NACES evaluation must certify your international degree is equivalent to a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution.
- For students whose native language is not English an official score is required from one of the following:
- TOEFL (6678 MSUM school code) score of 550 (paper-based) or 78-80 (online)
- IELTS (Minnesota State University Moorhead) overall band score of 6.5
- Duolingo a minimum score of 120 on the Duolingo English test.
On Campus International Students-Visa Sponsorship Requirements
Upon admission to the program, you will receive instructions from the Admissions team on how to submit the documents required for visa sponsorship
- International Graduate Student Agreement form.
- International Graduate Student Sponsor form listing the availability of adequate monetary support for the duration of the graduate program.
- An official bank statement demonstrating sufficient financial support.
- International Graduate Student Transfer form. (if applicable)
- Valid passport copy.
- Dependent passport copies, if applicable.
Note: Students requiring F-1 visa sponsorship must complete all international admission requirements before an I-20 can be issued. Students are also required to maintain approved health insurance coverage while enrolled. Direct questions regarding international admissions to admissions@mnstate.edu.
