Human Services Learning Community
The "Human Services" Learning Community (LC) is for students with a major of Criminal Justice, Psychology, or Social Work. For the 2026-2027 academic year, this community is located in West Snarr Hall.
Common Courses
Students in a Learning Community receive priority registration for designated common courses that are required for their major and connect them with peers in their LC. You’ll be pre-registered for these courses prior to SOAR (student orientation, advising, and registration).
Fall
- FYE: First Year Experience (1 credit) - (Required for all)
Criminal Justice Majors
- CJ 200: Introduction to Criminal Justice (4 credits)
Psychology Majors
- BIOL 104: Human Biology (3 credits)
- PSY 220: Social Behavior (3 credits)
Social Work Majors
- ECON 100: The American Economy (3 credits)
Learning Community students also receive seats in Spring courses, which your Mentor will assist you with during the advising and registration process.

- Live around students with similar interests, assisting you in making connections from the moment you arrive to campus.
- Take courses with your peers, creating a seamless way to connect with others for study sessions and test prep.
- Have your Mentor living near you for easy access to support.
- Engage in exclusive events your Mentor hosts throughout the year such as Site Visits to local business in the Fargo-Moorhead area, large LC events connecting you with faculty, and so much more!
