Freshman Admission Requirements
Minnesota State Moorhead uses multiple measures when reviewing applications for admission. Students who meet the requirements below are automatically admitted.
Automatic Admission Requirements
You must have a high school diploma (or GED) and meet at least one of the following criteria:
High School GPA
Cumulative GPA
Class Rank
Graduating class rank
ACT Score
Composite ACT score
If you meet one of the automatic admission requirements above, you're ready to apply. If you don't, we encourage you to apply anyway—every application is reviewed individually, and additional pathways to becoming a Dragon are available.

Complete your online application and submit your supporting documents to begin the admission process.
Recommended College Preparation
While not required for admission, we encourage students to complete the following coursework during high school:
- English: 4 years
- Mathematics: 3 years
- Science: 3 years
- Social Studies: 3 years
- World Language: 2 years
- Arts: 1 year
ACT & SAT Scores
ACT and SAT scores are optional for admission but may be considered for scholarship opportunities.

What Happens Next?
After you apply and submit all required materials, most students receive an admission decision within approximately 10 business days. We'll notify you of your admission decision by email and mail.

Don't Meet the Requirements?
We encourage you to apply even if you don't meet the automatic admission requirements. Every application is reviewed individually to determine admission eligibility. If you are denied admission, you may submit an appeal for further review or explore alternative pathways to becoming a Dragon.

Through our partnership with M State, you can begin your academic journey while enjoying many of the benefits of being part of the Minnesota State Moorhead community, including the opportunity to live on campus.
