Commercial Ensemble

Composed of both music and non-music majors, the Commercial Ensemble compromises multiple student groups which perform each semester. Students audition and are placed into CE student bands based upon skill level and band instrumentation/needs. All ensembles rehearse twice a week under the guidance of a music department faculty member. Each ensemble selects its own repertoire to perform each semester, with selections ranging from pop to rock, country to heavy metal, and reggae to indie/folk. Original student compositions are encouraged, and ensembles writing original works may be given the opportunity to utilize MSUM recording facilities in cooperation with students in the MSUM Commercial Music and/or Audio Production & Entertainment Management program to record their works utilizing their own CE student band. Some groups who form as a result of the Commercial Ensemble eventually seek to perform and tour across the region under their own direction.
