Alexandria Regional Scholars Program: Cardinals to Dragons

Minnesota State Moorhead partners with Alexandria Public Schools to empower Cardinals who show academic promise and would make great additions to the Dragon Community. This partnership strengthens support for high-achieving students in our region and creates more awareness of Moorhead’s academic excellence and opportunities.

Cardinals Make Great Dragons stickerAlexandria Area High School students benefit from an increased presence by Minnesota State Moorhead at school events, streamlined communication between Moorhead’s Admissions team and the school counselor, and exclusive access to these award and scholarship opportunities:

Housing Award

  • $3,000 award
  • Requires 3.0 cumulative HS GPA
  • One-year scholarship
  • Must live on campus to receive

Guaranteed Seats in Honors Scholarship Competition Day

  • Requires 3.7 cumulative HS GPA
  • Minimum award:
    • $3,000 Professional Development Stipend
    • Academic scholarship from $7,000 to $45,000

To become a Regional Scholar, Alexandria students must meet the criteria outlined below:

  • Graduate from Alexandria Area High School (Class of 2026 and beyond)
  • Achieve a minimum high school GPA of 3.0 (3.7+ for maximum awards)
  • Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) using Moorhead’s School Code: 002367
  • Enroll as a full-time student at Minnesota State Moorhead in the fall following high school graduation
