MSUM recognizes that some students have learned college material prior to admission. This type of learning may occur as a result of job or volunteer experiences. MSUM provides an opportunity for its students to obtain college credit for these learning experiences.

Students may also be dismissed for unethical or non-professional conduct, including plagiarism and forgery.

Minnesota State University Moorhead has a committee and task force structure that is designed to advise the administration on various University activities that are critical to the mission, via a process that honors the principles of shared governance. Committees and task forces are composed of appointed faculty, staff and students who provide their time and expertise in service of the MSUM mission.
The course syllabus is prepared to clearly notify students of course content, course requirements, and course expectations. Each student enrolled in a course shall be provided a course syllabus during the first week of class. For courses offered in a condensed format, the timeframe for distribution will be adjusted accordingly.
