The Women's and Gender Studies Department offers several scholarship awards for academic excellence. Students can also apply for general university scholarships through the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office.
Scholarship application information will be emailed to students enrolled in the Women's Studies program. Additional information may be posted in the department.
Outstanding Women's and Gender Studies Student ScholarshipOne $500 scholarship is awarded each year to a Women's and Gender Studies student who has contributed the most to the Women's and Gender Studies program in the previous academic year. Students are nominated by members of the Women's and Gender Studies faculty. The WGS committee as a whole determines the recipient.
Jean Stephenson Women’s and Gender Studies ScholarshipThe Jean Stephenson Scholarship is intended to support an upperclass Women's and Gender Studies student who demonstrates excellence in scholarship, character and future potential.
First Year Women’s Studies Student AwardA $100 gift certificate to the MSUM bookstore is given to a first year student who displays outstanding potential as a student in WGS courses and in the program. Students are nominated by members of the WGS Faculty and the WGS committee determines the recipient.
Mildred E Treumann-Sylvia Morgan Scholarship in Women’s and Gender StudiesThe Mildred E. Treumann-Sylvia Morgan Scholarship in Women's and Gender Studies is for women who are seeking a major or minor in Women's and Gender Studies. Candidates must display academic excellence and contributions on- or off-campus to women's equality.
