  • Lobby Day

The Minnesota State system, that includes MSUM, is funded from the budget allocations state legislature decides upon. Each college or university is funded based on various factors - size, graduation rate, retention rate, etc.

One of Students United and Student Senate’s major concerns is that there has not been enough state funding that would enable students to pay lower tuition rates. To make this concern materialize into demonstrations and rallies, Students United organizes Lobby Day. This is when students from all campuses drive up to the State Capitol, stage their concern and delegate their causes revolving around more efficient student centered higher education. Lobby Days are done every year during the Spring Semester and everybody is welcome to join the fight for higher education.
