MSUM Housing Incentive Program

Students who participate in the incentive program to lock in 2023-2024 room rates and select their a room for the 2024-2025 Academic Year, are hereby agreeing to the following terms in addition to the Housing and Residential Life room contract:

I understand my contract is for the entire 2024-2025 Academic Year, both fall and spring semesters.

I understand that even if I participated in the Lock-In Incentive for the previous academic year my upcoming lock-in rate will be the 2023-2024 rates.

I understand if I do not buy out my DOUBLE room prior to May 1, that I will likely receive a random roommate (see full Housing & Dining contract for details).

I understand I must cancel my housing contract on or before June 1, 2024 or otherwise be liable for entire room contract for 2024-2025 school year.

I understand if I choose to cancel my housing contract, I must do it at www.mnstate.edu/housing/myhousing on or before June 1, 2024 for it to be approved.

I understand if my roommate(s) cancels their housing contract, it does not entitle me to automatic cancellation.

I understand if I cancel my housing contract on or before June 1, 2024, I will be assessed a $50 cancellation fee.

I understand if I do not cancel by June 1, 2024 but my circumstances change, that I may apply for release of contract and said request will be reviewed by committee. If the contract release is approved, I will be assessed the $50 cancellation fee; if my request is denied my contract stays in place for the 2024-2025 academic year. Students denied a release from their contract may appeal to the Director of Housing and Residential Life within five business days upon notification from the committee. I understand a request does not guarantee a release from their housing contract. I understand I must demonstrate a significant change has occurred since signing the contract and provide necessary documentation as outlined in the release of housing contract form.
