Welcome to the #DragonFamily: David Stockdill
Meet MSUM’s new Veteran Services Outreach Director, David Stockdill. David works with students that have or are currently serving in the military.
Q: What drew you to MSUM?
A: I’ve always had a background in university teaching and the opportunity to work with veteran and military-connected students was the primary motivating factor to work here.
Q: What types of responsibilities fall under your role?
A: The primary function of my role is to serve the military and veteran student population here on campus. My responsibilities focus on the recruitment, retention, and graduation success of those students.
Q: What’s your favorite part about your position?
A: I like communicating with people and hearing feedback and stories from students. It’s the best way to improve the processes and programs we have in place, so I really value those conversations. Everyone is also very easy to work and communicate with.
Q: What advice would you give to your younger self?
A: Invest time and effort into knowing what you want to do in your life.
Q: How would you describe your personality?
A: I think I’m very easygoing. I like to take measured approaches to things, but I also try not to take things too seriously. I’d also say I’m analytical and take my time making decisions. I enjoy the outdoors too; I fish and hunt.
Q: What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?
A: Chocolate.
