Welcome to the #DragonFamily April Schmidt

Meet April Schmidt, MSUM’s new assistant professor of Spanish.

Q: What drew you to MSUM?
A: My family is originally from this part of the country, so I have visited the area before and enjoy it around here.

Q: What is your favorite part about MSUM so far?
A: The students are really great, so my favorite part has been getting to know them.

Q: What is the most interesting thing you are working on right now?
A: Just preparing everything for my classes; I’m currently getting a lot of fresh teaching experience.

Q: What book are you currently reading?
A: I am reading a collection of short stories by Emilia Pardo Bazán, a Spanish novelist from the 19th century.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now where would you go and why?
A: Peru because I have always wanted to visit Machu Picchu.
