Meet MSUM’s new Assistant Director for Leadership & Organizations, Romi Dehler. She's ready to support the student organization community through all of its needs.
Start Date: January 25, 2021
Q: What drew you to MSUM?
A: I love the clear intentionality that exists on campus to build a tight-knit community amongst students, staff, and faculty. The smaller size means I’ll actually be able to really know my coworkers and the campus partners with whom I engage.
Q: If you could list three apps on your phone, what would they be?
A: Instagram, Spotify, and Starbucks.
Q: What is your most-used emoji? Why?
A: My most used emoji is probably the purple heart. Hearts can be so universal in meaning, and almost always mean showing love and support. I like purple one because it’s my favorite shade of purple. That shade is one of my three favorite colors.
Q: What unique experiences or skills from your last job do you bring to MSUM?
A: My last job was at a large state university (50,000+ students!). With that in mind, I think I’m bringing a skillset that can really help develop experiences that reach a truly wide-ranging audience. When doing things for a community that large, you really have to be intentional in creating things for literally everyone.
Q: What book are you currently reading?
A: My next read will be Becoming by Michelle Obama. It’s been sitting on my shelf for a bit, but the timing (i.e., moving to a new place) feels right.
