Art Dragon Stories

It’s not always easy to express yourself with words. Whether it’s frustration, anger, grief, or anxiety, these alumnae use art to draw out emotions some can’t describe, and help them paint a picture of what they’re feeling.

Brick by brick, piece by piece, and with the power of more than 315 children, parents, artists, volunteers and community members, Fargo unveiled its first large-scale public art project in August at Madison Skate and Bike Park.

Jeff Hagen ’68 (art education) is impacting kids in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains by introducing art. He may also be inspiring future artists or entrepreneurs.

Unseen is dedicated to thwarting human trafficking and impacts lives around the world by partnering with organizations that directly rescue victims from the clutches of forced services and despair.

MSUM’s vigorous academic focus on entrepreneurship intends to subtly inform and shift how students think about work, social innovation, marketing, finance, life.

Dragons have long been advocates for social change. Mirroring nationwide movements, MSUM has proven throughout the years to be at the forefront of acceptance and change.

Medical illustrators are uniquely connected by their meticulous attention to artistic detail and their curiosity with the human form.

MSUM alumna Elise Parsley ’11 (art) started college ready to learn–from scratch. While many students choose to major in areas of pre-existing fortes, Parsley decided to study art. She’d never even taken a drawing class.
