The MSUM Scholars Apprenticeship scholarship grants recipients the opportunity to connect with a faculty or staff mentor for five hours a week on research or creative activities in an area of academic interest. In addition to the financial award, this scholarship gives you hands-on learning experience outside of the classroom and is available throughout your college journey. Apprenticeship positions are available in a wide variety of academic and administrative departments and involve internship-level academic research or creative work.
High School Seniors with an ACT composite score of 28* or higher and cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher are eligible to apply for a Scholar's Apprentice Scholarship. This award is $20,000 ($5,000 annually for four years based on academic performance). Opportunities to apprentice in an area of academic interest under the supervision of a faculty member are available. If awarded, the Scholars Scholarship replaces the Distinguished Dragon Scholarship.
Incoming transfer students in the second semester of their sophomore year or later, based on all previous schools' combined cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher are eligible to apply. A letter of endorsement from an MSUM faculty member proposing how the applicant will be engaged in an apprentice relationship under the faculty member's supervision must be submitted along with the application form. The scholarship is $10,000 ($5,000 per year for tuition for the final two years of attendance for a student's first bachelor's degree).
