  • About the SCEC

    SCEC is the student chapter of the national Council for Exceptional Children organization. Our purpose is to broaden understanding and knowledge of Special Education. Also, providing college students with the opportunities and experiences of closely working for and with children and adults with special needs. We are a group for education majors to develop as professionals and gain some awesome volunteer experiences.

    What does SCEC do?

    • Professional Development Meetings
    • Service Projects- we are concentrating on two-three big projects this year, we'd like to do fewer of them and do them big
    • Attend the Minnesota CEC conference. Students have been able to attend the conference FREE of charge by volunteering at the conference. Our local chapter has supported students by providing them with FREE travel to and from the conference as well. Students who attend the state conference can apply for funds to attend the national conference at a very reasonable rate also!
