Planetarium

  • Imagine soaring out to the farthest known quasar, exploring recently discovered galaxies, or journeying through an historic civilization.

    The Minnesota State University Moorhead planetarium offers a variety of multimedia presentations that awe, amaze, entertain and educate viewers of all ages. Tour the planets and known universe through a night sky simulation that delivers spectacular imagery through a dynamic and total immersion experience. The planetarium uses the premier Elumenati projector and Uniview scientific software used by the most prestigious planetariums in the country. The planetarium comfortably seats 62, and serves 10,000 visitors annually.

    Join us for this special Halloween show! Choose your house and learn about the stars and sky behind the famous characters! A great show for all ages and a must-see for any Potter fan! Costumes are ENCOURAGED!

    What’s Up?! A Monthly Night Sky Tour

    Want to know what you can see in the sky this month? Don’t want to miss out on celestial events like meteor showers? This is the show for you! Each month we will take a tour of what you can find in our sky for that month and what to look for. We will show you how to use a sky map and suggest free apps that also work well.

    Space Quest

    Become a co-pilot on a space adventure and choose your own destinations! Every show is different because the audience is the guide! Pick from various topics in astronomy- Planets & Solar System, Galactic and Intergalactic space, Space travel, current topics in astronomy, backyard astronomy, and more!
