SOAC, the Student Organization Advisory Committee, is a committee comprised solely of students involved in a student organization(s) and acts as an advisory group to the Assistant Director of Leadership and Organizations. The committee represents the needs and concerns of students involved in recognized student organizations and assists in policy definition and administrative action. SOAC assists in the student organization recognition process by reviewing submitted constitutions and makes recommendations regarding new student organization recognition to Student Senate. They review and approve existing constitutional changes and updates. SOAC serves as a resource for the resolution of organization conflicts. They call hearings when a grievance has been filed against a student organization regarding violations of University rules and policy and makes recommendations regarding the matter to the Assistant Director of Leadership and Organizations. SOAC also reviews officer GPA appeals and makes recommendations to the Assistant Director of Leadership and Organizations. Finally, SOAC assists in the planning and hosting of student organizations events including the Student Organization Awards Ceremony and selects Of the Month and Of the Year award recipients.
