Exploration Learning Community

  • You should live in this community if you have declared General Studies as a major, which means you haven’t quite decided on your major. Students who have declared a major, but still aren’t 100% on that chosen major can also participate.

    This community will help you discover your strengths and passions, as well as gain knowledge and assistance to help select a major that best fits your talents and aspirations.

    This community is historically located in Grantham Hall.

    Required Common Courses:

    Fall

    • UNIV 131: Career/Life Planning (1 credit)
    • PHIL 110: Practical Reasoning (3 credits)
    • COMM 110: Introduction to Communication Studies (3 credits)
        

    Spring

    • SOC 110: Introduction to Sociology (3 credits)
        

    As a member of the community, you will...

    • live with other students who have declared General Studies as a major and are exploring how their interests can lead to a career.
    • take three classes with students who live on your floor.
    • take a career/life planning course instructed by a faculty member who has worked closely with students who are still exploring their options.
    • have a Dragon Mentor dedicated to providing you with various opportunities for career exploration and support.
    • be exposed to career options that can be attained through the various majors offered.
