  • MSUM iPad Initiative

    MSUM iPad initiative is a program that integrates technology and digital communication in order to prepare students for the market place. As technology evolves rapidly, so do the modes of communication and learning. We want our students to be prepared and relevant when they enter the market place upon their graduation. This initiative is launched as a means of introducing students to using digital technology to enhance their learning experience at MSUM.

    Music Industry iPad Pilot

    MSUM’s Music Industry Program is the first program to enter this iPad initiative, with startup starting Fall 2013.

    Psychology iPad Pilot

    MSUM’s Psychology department opted in to the iPad initiative on the 25th of September 2013. In this pilot 15 graduate students were provided with devices.

  • Loss, Theft, Damage

    Students are expected to take good care of the devices.

    In the event that the mobile tablet device is stolen, the student is responsible to provide an official police report to MSUM within two business days of the incident. In addition, a fee of four hundred ninety-nine dollars ($499) will be charged to the student’s account.

    In the event that the mobile tablet device is damaged during the pilot period, the student shall be responsible for the following:

    Examples of major damage include: cracks to the case, broken screen, liquid spills that damage the device, damage to the hard drive from the device being dropped, electrical damage caused by lightning or electrical surges, or damages to multiple components of the device that have a total amount of replacements that exceed $100.

    The student’s responsibility for repair costs as a result of major damage shall be as follows:

    First incident of major damage: Up to $100 maximum

    Second incident of major damage: Up to $200 maximum

    Third incident: Full replacement cost

    Note: the above schedule is for major damages. Minor damages where the cost of repair is below $100 will not count towards this schedule. Students shall be responsible for all repair costs associated with minor damage. An example of minor damage: small crack in plastics, etc.

    Withdrawal/Transfer from MSUM

    Students must return the device within five days of withdrawal or transfer from MSUM. (This includes withdrawal or switching from the Music Industry Program to another major during the Pilot Initiative). Failure to do so will result in the full cost of the device being charged to the student account.
