Sharing your Media Content within D2L Brightspace

Kaltura MediaSpace allows you to share your content directly from within your courses in D2L Brightspace. Be sure to review the information in Providing Access to Kaltura MediaSpace Videos in D2L Brightspace (PDF) or watch the video for step-by-step instructions on how to share your videos with your students.

    Captioning Tool

Kaltura MediaSpace offers a machine-based captioning tool to add captioning to your media. This tool works similarly to the captioning feature for YouTube videos. As is the case with all current machine-based captioning services, your unedited captions will not be compliant for viewers protected by the Americans with Disability Act (ADA). You can edit captions within Kaltura MediaSpace to make them compliant. Instructions are provided in Document 1763: December 2016 - Kaltura MediaSpace Service Changes. (Login with Username in the format to view help documentation.)

In many cases, using the machine-based captioning and completing the necessary edits is sufficient for adding captions to your videos. However, if completing the machine-captioning and editing yourself is too burdensome, please send a request to for assistance. You can then work with Media Services to determine the most effective way to get your materials captioned.
