  • Class Share Drive

A faculty or staff member may request server drive space for a class to allow students to hand in material that requires large amounts of data that cannot be uploaded using the Learning Management System (D2L Brightspace), email or other traditional methods.

    • The class share drive is located at \\\classshare
    • Any class the student is in or that a teacher “owns” will appear in that folder
      • Within the course folder, by default we create a “Hand-out” folder that all students can see.
      • Also created is a “Hand-in” folder where there are sub-folders named based on StarID, which only that specific student and the instructor can see.

How do I request a share drive folder for my class?

    • Faculty or staff member can request a share drive folder for their class by emailing
      • In the email include instructors name, semester needed and course number.
      • When the folder is created, the class list is populated to the drive with their StarID as folder names.

When the semester ends, is the share drive folder removed?

    • At the end of the semester you may send in a request to to let us know your preference:
      • The information uploaded to the share drive folder can be deleted and then recreate the share drive folder with the same course name.
      • The old information may be needed for awhile and you would like a new share drive folder created for each semester.

How do I connect to the class share drive?

    • On a Windows computer you can map a drive using these instructions:
      • The path you would use for the class share drive is \\\classshare
      • You may use any drive letter you would like as long as it is available
      • Use your StarID credentials if prompted
    • On a Mac computer you can connect to the drive using these instructions
      • In the Finder, choose Go > Connect to Server
      • Enter the server Path of smb://
      • Click the "Connect" button
      • Use your StarID credentials if prompted

***Note: In order to connect to the servers on either platform you must be on the Campus Network, DragonConnect-Employee or DragonConnect-Student wifi for it to work.
