  • Financial Aid Application Process

    1. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Renewal Application.
      • Submit the 2017-2018 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible after October 1, 2016. The MSUM School Code is 002367.
      • The 2017-2018 FAFSA is based on 2015 income. You are not required to file a tax return before submitting the FAFSA.
      • Graduate students are independent for financial aid purposes and not required to provide parental data on the FAFSA.
    2. Complete your admission as a degree-seeking graduate student or a continuing graduate student in good academic standing at MSUM.

          3. Submit additional information or documentation when requested.

    • Awards are based on full-time enrollment (8 credits) in graduate-level courses. Awards are reduced if enrollment is less than 8 credits.
    • A minimum of 6 graduate credits is required for campus work-study or loans.
    • If your financial situation changes, notify the Office of Scholarship and Financial Aid to request a review of your file.
    • If you are already repaying a student loan, check with your lender(s) regarding “in-school” deferment of loan payments. MSUM automatically provides enrollment data to all guarantee agencies to enable lenders to determine deferment eligibility.
