Hold Your Fire, Dragons
Help prevent the spread of coronavirus and any virus by holding your fire, or covering your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze. Here are the best ways to prevent the spread; choose your favorite way to hold your fire. And remember: Don’t touch your face.
Use a tissue Using—and then throwing away—a tissue is the best way to keep germs from spreading like wildfire. Be sure to wash your hands afterward for good measure.
Vampire method Using your sleeve is a good way to cover your sneeze or cough with smaller contamination risks. Just be sure to cover both your nose and mouth.
Don’t use your hands Using your hands to keep germs from spraying all over the place is not the best way to cover your cough. You’ll likely spread germs to your computer, phone and friends.
No barrier Not covering your sneeze or cough can spread germs over 10 feet to other surfaces, where they can live for weeks. Please hold your fire, Dragons.
Watch for signage around campus reminding you to take these important precautions to prevent the spread of disease.
We have faith that our Dragon family will do what’s needed to keep one another safe. We are relying on you to abide by respiratory etiquette guidelines.
