COVID-19 Safety Color Levels

Every weekday, MSU Moorhead’s Pandemic Response Team Leadership Council reviews these indicators. If two more indicators are met, University administration will consider updating the safety level and implementing additional mitigation efforts.

GREEN: LOW TRANSMISSION

Transmission seen as manageable.

  • < 1% of campus students infected within a 14-day period
  • Isolation and quarantine <50% full
  • Personal protective equipment and cleaning supplies available for > 14 days
  • K-12 indicators (county positive cases) is <10 cases per 10k residents over two weeks
YELLOW: MEDIUM TRANSMISSION

Transmission levels are beginning to tax institutional resources.

  • 1-3% of campus students infected within a 14-day period
  • Isolation and quarantine 50-75% full
  • Personal protective equipment and cleaning supplies available for 7-14 days
  • K-12 indicators (county positive cases) is 10-30 cases per 10k residents over two weeks
ORANGE: HIGH TRANSMISSION

Transmission levels have further depleted or exhausted institutional resources.

  • >3% of campus students infected within a 14-day period
  • Isolation and quarantine >75% full
  • Personal protective equipment and cleaning supplies available for < 7 days
  • K-12 indicators (county positive cases) is >30 cases per 10k residents over two weeks
RED: SUSTAINED HIGH RISK

Transmission levels have seriously depleted or exhausted institutional resources.

  • Students infected within a 14-day period does not improve with additional mitigation.
  • Isolation and quarantine 100% full
  • Personal protective equipment and cleaning supplies available for < 2 days
  • K-12 indicators (county positive cases) is >30 cases per 10k residents over two weeks and does not improve over a two week period
