The Women’s Center is committed to supporting women to become leaders and changemakers on their campus and in their communities. In addition to workshops on activism and professional development offered through the Center, we encourage women to take advantage of the following opportunities at MSUM to build their confidence and leadership skills.
NEW Leadership Development Institute
The National Education for Women’s (NEW) Leadership Development Institute is an award-winning women’s leadership development program hosted by Minnesota State University Moorhead and organized by NEW Leadership™ Northern Lights, a partner in the national New Leadership™ National Network.
During this no-cost, five-day residential program, participants will meet women policymakers, non-profit leaders, and community activists. They build valuable networks with fellow change-makers and mentors, learn to run an effective campaign for public office, and strategize how to improve their community through political and civic engagement.
Who Should Apply: Women interested in running for office, political leadership, public or community service. Applications open in early February each year.
American Association of University Women (AAUW)
MSUM holds an institutional membership to AAUW, which offers a number of benefits to our students and faculty members, including free e-affiliate membership, leadership opportunities, access to scholarships and other awards.
