Medical Services

  • MSUM Counseling Services is hiring a Case Manager to work with all students to access community-based medical providers that are most appropriate based on your needs and insurance. This professional will also help if you don’t have insurance by accessing providers who can work with you directly or to identify options for insurance programs that will best meet your needs and budget.

The MSUM Counseling Services Case Manager will:

    • work with you directly to understand your health insurance coverage or to acquire health insurance,
    • assist you in finding the best provider options given your individual health insurance coverage plans,
    • advocate for your healthcare needs,
    • develop systems to improve the referral and appointment-making process for students seeking medical and mental health services in the community.

  • Students who have previously been treated at the MSUM health clinic can stop by Counseling Services to request a copy of their fill medical records.

All active prescriptions previously filled at the MSUM pharmacy have been transferred to Medical Pharmacy-Moorhead, located in the Hornbacher’s grocery store located 5 blocks north of campus at 101 11th Street South, Moorhead.

Minnesota law requires that all undergraduate students born after 1956 must be immunized against:

    • Tetanus, Diphtheria (Td, Tdap)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)

You can “self-report” your immunization dates online by visiting our online immunization form. Please provide two vaccination dates: a current dose of Tetanus (Td or Tdap) completed within the last 10 years and a dose of a MMR (measles, mumps, rubella).

If you aren’t able to find records of your immunizations, you may receive needed immunizations at your home clinic or your local public health facility.

Family HealthCare is now the home clinic for international students. This medical provider offers a wide range of services for students and community members. Students with United Healthcare insurance coverage will be able to access the following services all in one place: medical, dental, vision, pharmacy, nutrition, behavioral health, physical therapy, and lab. Full details about the services provided can be at their website.

International students should download or print a copy of their insurance ID card when accessing Family HealthCare services. Go to the United Healthcare website and follow the prompts to log in as a member. Once logged in, look for the “My Account” link for more information on how to print or download a pdf of the insurance ID card. United Healthcare also has an app available on both Google Play and the App Store. Our Case Manager is also available to provide assistance in this process.

Within about 3 miles of the MSUM campus, you will find several medical clinics, including walk-in and full-service clinics, and pharmacies. A list of several of these providers can be found below.

You will want to consider your individual insurance plan and network of providers, as well as your particular medical needs, when selecting one of these clinics or pharmacies. Our Case Manager would be happy to provide assistance to you in navigating your healthcare choices.
