Chemistry Scholarships

  • The Chemistry & Biochemistry Department offers $1,000-1,500 scholarships for students majoring in chemistry or biochemistry & biotechnology that nearly match the university’s automatic freshman scholarships for students who meet class rank and ACT guidelines. A separate application is required if you are applying for the matching Chemistry Department scholarships. You can also apply for general university scholarships through the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office.

    2017-2018 scholarship applications are due Wednesday, March 29, 2017. Please submit one application for all scholarships listed below.

    2017-2018 Scholarship Application

    Scholarship application information will be emailed to students enrolled in Chemistry and Biochemistry. Additional information may be posted in the department. Currently enrolled MSUM students eligibility:

    1. Applicants must be enrolled in General Chemistry.
    2. Applicants must be enrolled in Organic Chemistry I next fall.
    3. Eligible Candidates must be a declared Chemistry or Biochemistry & Biotechnology major.

    • Chemistry Research Scholarship | $100

      2. Minimum GPA 3.0

      4. Must be enrolled in research and planning to continue next year
    • Chemistry Research Scholarship | $200
      1. Chemistry or Biochemistry & Biotechnology Major
      2. Minimum GPA 3.3

    • Jerome E. Swanson Chemistry Endowed Scholarship | $500
      1. Chemistry or Biochemistry & Biotechnology Major
      2. Minimum GPA 3.5

    • Ben McCashland Endowed Scholarship | $1,000
      1. Chemistry or Biochemistry & Biotechnology Major
