The MSUM Chemistry & Biochemistry department students have outstanding research opportunities—including immersive faculty-mentored research projects; access to well-equipped state-of-the-art laboratories, extensive scientific instrumentation, computer facilities and a rich chemistry library; and forums to present their results at regional and/or national professional conferences. Graduates are poised to excel in graduate school and in fascinating career areas such as medical discoveries in the health technologies, computer technology, clothing and textiles, foods and nutrition research, industrial research and materials sciences.

This Learning Community is open to those majoring in biology, chemistry, biochemistry or biotechnology.
The Chemistry and Biochemistry Club (CBC) promotes chemistry to the university and surrounding community by participating in outreach activities to teach chemistry principles and generate an interest in science among students, teachers and the community. The Chemistry Department’s close, collegial atmosphere extends to the CBC, which fosters friendships, develops leadership skills, promotes volunteerism and encourages professional development.
MSU Moorhead’s Robert Noyce Grant Project gives current students majoring in science or mathematics, or community members who’ve received a STEM degree, the opportunity to earn a teaching license free of cost.

You’ll use research-grade equipment to learn from and work alongside faculty mentors. Many students conduct research for multiple semesters and with multiple professors.
